For the majority of my career I have been treating women with the full range of eating disorders: anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating. More recently I have treated a significant number of men seeking help with weight reduction. I see clients individually and in groups. I have added hypnosis as a tool to assist my clients in dealing with their struggles in obtaining and maintaining balanced weight. Hypnosis channels energy and motivation to reduce therapy time. My approach to weight reduction and other forms of eating problems is a structured, goal setting approach that involves life style changes over a period of active therapy involvement.

Bariatric surgery is becoming more popular as are requests for services that support this surgery. Commonly a response to morbid obesity, bariatric surgery is performed by many local hospitals and can be gastric bypass, stomach “stapling” or lap band surgery. Prior to acceptance for these surgeries, psychological services are often recommended to overcome counterproductive eating habits, or to increase possibility of success following surgery. Often as well, men and women find that post surgical support and therapy assists them in meeting long term goals, having a positive adjustment, or resolving issues that arise following surgery.

In each of these instances, I am available to provide expert intervention. Weight loss, being a complex life style change, and weight maintenance, being a lifelong focus, require considerable motivation and self awareness.
